Managing Childrens Behaviour

This home learning course has been written for practitioners who work with young people and wish to deepen their understanding of the theory and practice of behaviour management from birth to adolescence.

Part 1 focuses on the development of behaviour . Using recent research in behaviourist theory, it analyses children's needs and the factors which influence their behaviour as they develop. It explores some of the reasons why some children may develop unwanted behaviour.

Part 2 addressess the practical implications of mangaing the behaviour of children, either indivually or in groups. Using a child-centred approach, it proposes strategies for promoting positive behaviour and empowering children. The current framewortk for assessing and monitoring children, using Individual education plans (IEP'S) and external professional support is also covered.

Entry Requirements:

There is no experience or previous qualifications required for enrolment on this course. It is available to all students, of all academic backgrounds.

  • Chapter 7: Promoting positive behaviour
  • Chapter 8: Behaviour modification and Individual Education Plans
  • Chapter 9: Teamwork and seeking additional support
  • Chapter 10: Communication with parents and carers

Study Hours:

This course will take approximately 80 hours to complete, However students can take as long as they need to complete

Examination:

No examination is necessary as students are assessed on the assignments they submit for grading

Qualification:

Certificate in Child Behaviour

All successful students will be awarded the First Choice Learning College in Managing Children's Behaviour Level 2 Certificate.
